Celebrating Reid's 6th Birthday!

Instead of a friend party this year, we took Reid and Georgia Kate on a quick trip to Grapevine for a visit to Legoland!  We left right after his baseball game last Saturday.  We were only gone a little over 24 hours, but we could tell that the "big kid" time was really good for them.  First, we stopped at a delicious Mexican restaurant on our way into town.

They both took late naps in the car on our drive, so after dinner we found a 

go-cart place.  This ended up being their favorite part of the trip.  They LOVED it.  We probably could have just gone home after that! We ended up staying there until 11 pm and looked like completely irresponsible parents.  You only turn six once! :) We got some ice cream on the way back to the hotel and then Reid very proudly stayed awake until midnight before he crashed.

We slept in the next morning and then grabbed a yummy breakfast before going to Legoland!  

The kids liked Legoland, but they liked the go-carts better. :) We also went to the Aquarium next door to Legoland before hitting the road to head back home.  We stopped in College Station to have dinner at Blue Baker, which is always a treat!  

Reid enjoyed picking out his own birthday gifts from us!  

It was a great little getaway, but we all missed this guy!  He loved his time with Mumsie and Popsie!

Going to bed for the last time as a 5 year old...

Reid woke up on his birthday to the "Happy Birthday" banner, birthday balloons, presents (even though he already knew what they were), and the birthday plate for the special breakfast that he didn't end up eating. It was so sweet to see his smiling face peeking around the corner in the morning! :) Chris went into work a little late so that he could be at home when Reid woke up.  

This is the first time that Reid had school on his birthday!  He was so excited to bring football cupcakes to school.  I didn't like being away from him all day, but I knew he was having a blast being at school with his friends.  

The celebration continued when we had dinner with Mumsie, Popsie, Grandma, Grandpa, Alli, Perry, and Thomas at Alicia's!

This picture represents so much.  The boy that used to be terrified of the "Happy Birthday" song requested that the waiters sing to him!  I couldn't believe it!  He loved every second of it.  He has grown so much this year!

When I looked back at Reid's 5 year old update, most of the ways I described him are still accurate today.  He still loves sports, games, and competition.  He turns everything into a contest.  He is cautious and definitely not a risk taker.  He still loves numbers and has turned into quite the math whiz!  He is very inquisitive and I love watching the wheels turning in his head when he hears or learns something new.  He gets attached to a few stuffed animals at a time, names them, and assigns them specific places in his bed.  He also loves legos, creating, and drawing.  He has really grown up this year.  He learned to read, ride a bike without training wheels, and lost a few teeth! :) While still shy by nature, he is starting to come out of his shell.  He's got some pretty sweet dance moves!  He is a great big brother and friend.  We are so very proud of you, Reid Preston Sciba and love you SO much!!!

End of School Fun!

Last week we wrapped up a wonderful school year!

We loved watching Georgia Kate at her end of year program!  She was very excited about it and did a great job.  

That evening it was Reid's turn!

Each class had a cute table set up with Bibles, memory books, balloons, and cookies for the kids. 

Not to be outperformed by his sister, Reid chose to sing and do the motions for the first time ever!  

This is Reid and his sweet buddy Case!  Case is also our neighbor now! :)

Even though this was technically Reid's second preschool graduation, it was even more special.  He has grown so much this year and we are SO proud of him!

The last day of school was Super Hero Day!  I am so thankful that they got to experience being at the same school this year!  

Little brother deserves a shout out for all of the time he spent in this stroller going in and out of the school. :)

Georgia had a blast at the pool party her class had on the last day of school!  

This post wouldn't be complete without thanking these four amazing ladies!! 

Mrs. Katy will always hold a very special place in my heart.  Not only am I lucky enough to call her a friend, but we were so blessed that she was Reid and Georgia's very first teacher.  She is the best of the best!  While we only got to have Mrs. Shawna for half of the year, we quickly came to love her too!

Mrs. Jeanette and Mrs. Ashley were such gifts to us this year.  Reid left their class more confident, a leader, and with a love for school!  They did an amazing job.   I actually feel like he got to experience what kindergarten should be...like an unofficial kindergarten year. :) 

We are so thankful for First Steps Preschool!  Now, we are ready to dive into SUMMER!
