On Monday our family moved from our first home. We had always said that we would probably think about moving sometime in the next 2 or 3 years, but it didn't stop us from looking just for fun. In February we found a house that peeked our interest in the neighborhood we eventually wanted to be. One thing lead to another and things fell into place. Before we knew it we had a contract and were getting our house ready to list! It all happened really, really fast. We got our house ready to list in about 3 days and it sold within 6. We are really excited to be on a street with a lot of young children. That was something we were specifically looking for. I am so happy that our kids will get to grow up with lots of neighborhood friends! We can't wait to get to know them better. We are now about 10 minutes away from each set of grandparents, which is so nice. We also love the idea of our children going to our high school someday. I know... we're such nerds. But we love Katy High School and the experiences we had there.

Chris and I built our first house while we were engaged and closed on it the day after we came back from our honeymoon, so this move has been very bittersweet. Let's just say that being pregnant (extra emotional) and moving is not a good combination. We have so many memories in our first house that I will always cherish. We LOVED that house. We could have lived there forever and been so happy...really. We lived there as newlyweds for 5 years before bringing home Reid. I feel like we did so much growing up in that house. Bringing our first baby back to the house is when it really started to feel like a home. We really started "living" there then. I think our house saw more family and friends in those first couple of months after Reid was born than it did all 5 years before that combined.
I wasn't quite ready to say goodbye, but I know that we will make special memories in our new house too (like bringing home another baby!). It makes me a little sad to think that Reid will never remember living in that house. The hardest room to pack was his nursery. Oh my goodness. I waited until the very last minute...I just couldn't do it. I had so much fun designing and dreaming about that room. So many wonderful moments were spent there (even all of those middle of the night feedings - those moments were actually my very favorite). Almost every single night Chris and I put Reid to bed together. We spent time on the floor all together reading books, singing, and saying our prayers.
For some reason the one image I wanted to engrain in my brain was Reid toddling down the hallway in the mornings towards the kitchen in his pajamas with his puppy and pillow in hand.

I am so thankful for our first house and all of the happiness and blessings it brought to us. I know that home is where my family is, but 5102 Shadow Breeze Lane will always hold a special place in our hearts! :)
