Brown Bear, Brown Bear!

For Halloween Reid dressed up as his favorite book character...Brown Bear, Brown Bear! :) He looked absolutely precious! We took him trick or treating at his grandparents' houses! Mr. Laid Back was a great sport. It was a fun night!

We love our little Brown Bear! :)

I love weekends!

We had a great weekend! Chris took Friday off from work, which made it an even greater weekend! On Friday morning, Chris took Reid up to Katy High School to visit his mom. I stayed home and got a few things done. I am glad Reid got to see the place where mommy and daddy met and I know Grandma loved showing Reid off to her counselor friends! :) After the little visit to KHS, Chris, Reid, and both of Reid's grandfathers all met up for a boy's lunch at Midway. Reid didn't get to enjoy any barbecue this time, but I know he loved spending time with his favorite men!
On Friday night we had some of our favorite friends over for dinner. Chris went to College Station for the game on Saturday, so Reid and I went to Mumsie and Popsie's house for the day. Auntie Alli came over too! This morning Chris took Reid over to his parents' house for a couple of hours so that I could take a nap. Wasn't that thoughtful of him? I am still getting up 3 times a night with Reid, so a long and uninterrupted nap was such a treat! I feel SO blessed that we have both of our families close by and that they get to spend so much time with Reid!

We ended our weekend with Reid eating his very first solid food (other than rice cereal)! I was planning to wait another week or two, but I could tell he was ready. I decided that sweet potatoes would be a perfect first food. They are one of my favorites, especially in the Fall! Chris and I had sweet potatoes for dinner also.
He was so excited that he was eating his bib! :)
He was more interested in our sweet potatoes than his.
He wasn't sure what to think at first!
He ended up loving them and finished the bowl! :)

Tomorrow Reid is going to go trick or treating at both of his grandparents' houses! I can't wait to put him in his little costume!

5 months!

Reid is 5 months young today! I love learning new things about him as he grows! I feel like his personality is really starting to come out! Not a day goes by that I am not overwhelmingly grateful for our precious boy.
We are still on a flexible schedule. It's what works for us. He eats every 3-4 hours depending on when he wakes up from his nap. He wants to eat right when he wakes up no matter what. I am planning to start veggies this month, but right now he is still just eating a little bit of rice cereal at dinner. He gets really excited about it which makes me think he is probably ready for something a little tastier! :) He actually started gnawing on the bowl last night. He starting to not like sitting in the bumbo, so we may put together the high chair soon! He's wearing size 2 diapers and probably switching to 3's very soon. He wears mostly 9-12 month clothes. I have noticed this month that he is starting to get more hair! He lost a lot the first couple of months. It's coming in much lighter than when he was a newborn.
Reid has never been a great sleeper. He takes 3 short naps most days. Every once in a while he will take a long nap, but not very often. He gets really worked up when he's tired and then has a hard time falling asleep. I've learned that he doesn't transition from the carseat to his crib very well. If he falls asleep on the way home from running errands, he is ready to be up when we get home, even if he just slept for 10 minutes. At night he is still waking up 2 or 3 times to eat. Luckily he goes right back to sleep after the middle of the night feedings. We have officially retired the swaddler and now use a sleep sack. I like it because it's much quicker and easier! He's pretty much stopped trying to roll over in his crib, so he still sleeps on his back. Just this week he has decided that he doesn't like pacifiers. He has always liked them, but was never dependent on them. Now he just screams when I try to give him one. He prefers to suck on his toes now. Hmmm...
Reid is really enjoying his jumperoo! I think it's his favorite thing to do. He really jumps now! He's started to play with the toys on it and really concentrates on them. He's starting to get too big for the swing I think. :( I usually put him in it for a few minutes first thing in the morning while I do a couple of quick things. He still loves books...yay!! He loves for me to sing to him...LOVES IT. He gets the biggest smile on his face. He's probably making fun of me in his head! Hehe! Sophie the giraffe is one of his favorite toys. I think he is very close to cutting a tooth. He loves for me to hold a lovey up high and then drop it on him over and over. He just giggles and giggles. It's too funny! Overall, he is really easy to take places. He just looks around and is really happy when we are out and about. We go on walks a few mornings a week with the mom of one of my precious former students and the baby that she watches. I really look forward to walking now that the weather is nice! We also walk a couple of evenings each week with Daddy. Bath time is still our favorite time of the day! He loves to stick out his tongue. He is such a little cuddler and I LOVE it. We usually just sit and cuddle in the rocker for a while after I feed him and I just cherish that time SO much. He's not really in a hurry to scoot or crawl and I am very happy about that. :)

Posing in the crib! :)

Sweet Reid, we love you more than you will ever know!

Make new friends, but keep the old...

Chloie has been completely uninterested in Reid since he arrived. She's an anti-social dog anyway, so this hasn't really surprised us. Annabelle is obsessed with him. Well, tonight Chloie decided to see what all the fuss was about. We were sitting on the floor of our bedroom and Chris was holding Reid and helping him stand. Chloie started running up, jumping on Reid, and giving him kisses. Then, she would run over to the door, turn to stare at him, and then run and jump again! He LOVED it and was cracking up! She did this over and over for about 5 minutes. I think she was having fun too! It was so funny to watch!

Look how happy he is! :)

Aggieland

On Saturday Chris and I went to the Aggie game! Reid stayed with my parents all day. The longest I had been away from him until Saturday was about 3 hours, so I really missed him! We enjoyed our alone time together though. I always love going home to College Station. There is really nothing like it. It was a great game! I didn't take any pictures, but let's just say I left looking like a tomato. The fact that my body really has not seen the sun since May combined with forgetting to wear sunscreen made for a really bad sunburn. We had lunch after the game at my favorite place to eat in College Station, Blue Baker. YUM! We are hoping to take Reid to Aggieland sometime in the Spring!

Just a few pictures from bath time last night...

pumpkins!

We had such a fun day yesterday! We went to lunch and a pumpkin patch with Ashlee, Clara, Mumsie, and LeeLee (Clara's grandmother). :) We have been friends with the Morris' since we were little girls. They mean so much to us and it is SO special that we get to experience having babies together! Sweet Clara was born just two months after Reid.

Baby Dedication

Reid had his baby dedication ceremony at church yesterday! I just love our church. Yesterday was a really special day. Our families came to the dedication and then we had lunch at our house. Everyone enjoyed getting to spend a lot of time with Reid! Here are some pictures of our day. My mom made Reid's bubble. A lot of love went into it! It was absolutely beautiful! After everyone left our house, we enjoyed the rest of the rainy afternoon relaxing. We also tried rice cereal for the first time last night! It was interesting! :) I am planning on waiting another few weeks before starting baby food. We will just stick with this for now!
We put Reid's crib bumpers back in last night. We had them out mainly because he wasn't rolling around yet and it was easier to change the sheet without the bumpers. Now that he's moving more we decided to put them in. Our doctor gave us the go ahead on that. We are still going back and forth with the swaddling thing! He doesn't seem to like it anymore, but also can't go to sleep without it because if he rolls onto his tummy he starts crying. I would have to say that the sleeping thing (or lack thereof) has definitely been the most confusing thing so far! Every baby is different and so we just have to figure it out what works best for us.

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.
