Summer Fun: June

Our first month of summer has been busy and fun!  Here's what we've been up to...

Perry and Georgia had a granddaughter sleepover at Mumsie and Popsie's house. These two girls had so much fun!

Alli and John had us over for dinner and backyard fun at their new house. We love having them as our neighbors!

We spent Memorial Day at Mumsie and Popsie's house.  Love these four so much!

Chris and Reid went to an Astros game with their friends...

while Georgia Kate and I went to see The Sound of Music at Jones Hall with our friends!

Reid attended two weeks of camp at Katy High School - football and basketball!  He loved having Case and some other friends there too!

Alli and John took Reid and Georgia Kate roller skating and they had the BEST time!  They are such a fun aunt and uncle!

Meanwhile, Chris and I had these two cuties/BFFs at our house! :)

The kids and I had a great week at VBS together!

Guinny came to visit one day.  We always love seeing her!

We celebrated Father's Day!

We met up with the Beemans at Stomping Grounds one morning.  We loved catching up and the kids loved playing!  (not pictured: Craig) :)

Alli and Perry came over for a movie night on a night when Chris and John were both out of town for work.  Have I mentioned how much I love having them as neighbors?

Georgia Kate and I attended pony camp at Paloma Trails with her pal Penny one morning.  This was one of her very favorite things about last summer and she talked about it all year.  She loved the ponies!

We made a visit to our library and hope to start going more regularly!

My great-aunt Fuffy came down from Midland for a visit.  We loved spending time with her!

We celebrated our favorite niece's 2nd birthday!  We love you, Perry Pie!!

In between all of that fun, we've managed to squeeze in lots of swimming too! :)

We love summer!!!

Colorado Trip!

Chris and I just got back from a wonderful vacation to Colorado!  We called it our 2 year belated 10 year anniversary trip. :) We wanted to go somewhere relaxing and not hot, so we landed on Aspen.  I had never been to Colorado in the summer and Chris hadn't been since high school.  It was absolutely beautiful and the perfect getaway.

We could not have gone on this trip without Mumsie, Popsie, Grandma and Grandpa!  We are so thankful for them!  They spent two nights with each set of grandparents and had a blast.  They went swimming, did crafts, played games, built forts. went to the trampoline park, and went to Chuck E Cheese.  I don't think they missed us very much!

We flew in and out of Denver, which gave us the chance to see more of Colorado on the 4ish hour trip to and from Aspen.  We landed early Sunday morning and started our drive!  We took our time and stopped in Breckenridge for breakfast at The Blue Moose, then stopped at The Continental Divide (where it started SNOWING!), and hiked at Grottos White River National Forest.

We eventually made it to Aspen and checked into our condo before going to dinner at The Grey Lady.

We decided to sleep in on Monday and then ride the gondola to the top of Aspen mountain.  We hiked up there for a while and then walked to lunch at The Hickory House.

We hung out at the condo on Monday afternoon and watched hgtv/read books/took naps with the windows open (glorious!) and then went to dinner at Mezzaluna.

On Tuesday morning we woke up early and drove to the Maroon Bells to hike.  It was such a beautiful place!

We grabbed lunch on the way back at Big Wrap and took it to the condo, then I went to get a facial.  It was such a treat!  After a little more relaxing that afternoon, we decided to go back to Hickory House for dinner because we liked it so much.  Wednesday we woke up and started our drive back to Denver, stopping for breakfast in Vail at The Little Diner.  I loved getting to briefly see two other towns besides Aspen!

We made it back to Houston on Wednesday evening just in time to see the kids before they went to bed.  We missed them so much, but were so thankful for such a great few days to relax, sleep, eat too much, and enjoy BEAUTIFUL Colorado!

Georgia Kate's Recital

Georgia Kate had her third dance recital today!  We moved to a new studio this year (Juleigh Holley School of Dance) and we've been very happy there.  The theme of the recital was Beauty and the Beast, which is Georgia's favorite Disney movie/princess, so she was thrilled!  Her class danced to "Tale as Old as Time" and it was adorable!  The whole show was very well done.

It was such a sweet day!  Love our little dancer!
