Baby's First Foods

Last night we gave Rhett his first taste of food!  We started with oatmeal and prunes.  We couldn't really tell what he thought!  He has actually had prune juice a few times already, so I guess he was used to that taste.  Reid and Georgia Kate were really excited to help!  We look forward to exposing him to more of a variety of foods soon!

Alli's Baby Shower

On Saturday I had the honor of hosting a baby shower for my beautiful sister, along with some other dear family friends.  We had the best time planning this shower and I was so happy with how everything turned out!  We converted Alli and John to the crazy side ;) and they aren't finding out the gender of the baby until he or she is born, so we decided on the theme "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, How We Wonder What You Are"!  

The entry table - pictures of Alli and John as babies, cookie favors, and a sign-in/gender voting board!  For the record, I voted GIRL. :) 

The mantel - this was my favorite part!  

The food table - I didn't get a picture with all of the food out, but everything was amazing!  We had little bundtinis for dessert with star toppers, but again, I didn't get a close picture of them. :(

Rhett is 5 months old!

This squishy, precious boy is 5 months old!  I took Rhett to the pediatrician on the day he turned 5 months old because I thought he might have an ear infection (he didn't) and got to see how much he weighs… over 19 pounds!  Big boy.   

Rhett is definitely a momma's boy, but he is getting a little bit better about letting other people hold him.  He gets his feelings hurt if I put him down for very long.  He has the BEST smile and when he's happy, he's really happy.  When he's not, he's really not. ;) We tried out the jumper this month and sometimes he kind of likes it, but he doesn't seem too impressed overall.   I think he's at the age when he's a little harder to entertain - not sitting up yet, but getting bored laying down.  Rhett loves watching Reid and Georgia Kate play, giving big open-mouth kisses, and his lotion.  We put lotion on several times a day now due to his Eczema and he LOVES it so much!  He is drooling and chewing on everything he can, so I expect a tooth to pop through any day!  Rhett learned to roll from back to stomach this month and unfortunately that means we've entered the phase of rolling onto his stomach in his crib and then screaming.  Once we get him settled, he usually ends up on his side and often sucking his thumb!  Rhett has transitioned to usually taking three 45ish minute naps a day, sometimes four.  We are still waking up all night long most nights and trying to figure out what to do about that, but this sweet face makes all of the sleepless nights more than worth it...

Rhett, you are such a blessing to our family!  We are so thankful you are ours!!!

Take me out to the ballgame!

Today was Reid's very first T-Ball game!  Such a big milestone in a little boy's life.  He's been so excited about his first game!  The league we are in is very low key and perfect for exposing the kids to the game.  They have practice before the game each week (instead of a separate practice during the week), so it makes for a big morning.  The weather could not have been more beautiful and we all enjoyed cheering for Reid!  He got a great hit and had a lot of fun!  Chris is the coach and I think he got a little glimpse into what my life was like as a teacher for 6 years. ;)  He did such a great job with the kids!
