Thanksgiving at the ranch

Our little turkeys had a fun day at their school Thanksgiving feasts! 

We spent Thanksgiving at the ranch for the first time in a few years and had a great time!  This was Rhett's first time down there and I know everyone loved showing him the ropes!  There was football playing outside, football watching inside, lots of riding around the property, fishing, eating, learning about the hunting process, and just enjoying the great outdoors!  :) We learned that Georgia Kate is our little outdoors girl.  She had no fear of animals and was eager to touch the fish, as well as the harvested deer. She must have gotten that from cousin Christie. :) While Reid LOVED being outside, wearing his camo, and checking things out, he wasn't quite as into the animals as his sister.  Rhett was a trooper and loved sitting on the porch and throwing rocks!  I am thankful we have this place where our kids can make memories! 

Celebrating Rhett's FIRST birthday!

November 12th was such a special day celebrating Rhett!

Our precious boy the night before he turned one year old!  

Daddy made pancakes for the birthday boy and he was a fan!

We gave Rhett his presents and spent the day playing,

swinging at the park,

and playing in the backyard with bubbles!

That evening we had a very small party with just family and a couple of Rhett's baby friends!

Singing "Happy Birthday" to my babies is always my favorite thing.  We sang it to him all day! :)

but he LOVED his ice cream!!! :) 

I had to sneak back in and get a couple of pictures of my one year old sleeping.

We had such a sweet day as a family loving on our birthday baby!  

Rhett is ONE!

Well, baby Rhett is officially ONE year old!  In some ways I feel like that was the fastest year ever, but I also feel like I really made a point to soak up every stage of this first year with him.  There is something really special about getting to experience the baby phase for the third time.  We are so in love with the baby of our family and can't imagine life without him!  

*His favorite song is "Wheels on the Bus" and his favorite books are You are my Cupcake, Big Red Barn, and any touch and feel book.  

A few things about Rhett Michael at 12 months...

*He has been very attached to me lately and doesn't want to be put down.  Ever.  My list of things that I can do one handed is growing. ;) 

*He still loves to throw balls (and already has some natural talent if I do say so myself) and is showing a new interest in cars.  

*"Ba" (ball) and "Ga" (car) are the two words he says most, in addition to mama, dada, and baba (bye bye).  

*He loves to watch Reid and Georgia Kate play and is starting to include himself in some of their shenanigans. :) 

*He is cruising furniture, but not quite ready to try taking steps on his own yet.

*He is already a picky eater (sigh) and has no problem throwing whatever he doesn't want on the floor with a disgusted look on his face.  He loves all fruit and would prefer to only eat fruit and Cheerios.  He gets MAD when the foods he likes run out! 

*He still really needs two naps a day, so I don't see us moving to one nap anytime soon.  

*On that note, he is still waking up 1-2 times a night, which might be why he needs two naps! :) 

*He already has 8 teeth and is working on more!  

*He loves to be tickled!

*He expects to be cheered for anytime he does anything.  I guess that's one of the perks of being the baby of the family! :) If we don't cheer for him, he waves both of his hands in the air to remind us.  

*He LOVES other babies.

*He loves taking baths and having water poured on his head!

*I think he might have some curl in his hair!  He has a little curl on the back of his head and I can't wait to see if more pop up!

Girl Time

Our small group girls headed out bright and early Friday morning for a much needed Girls Weekend!  My friend Holly's parents live on a lake halfway between College Station and Waco.  We went straight to Waco on Friday and our first stop was Magnolia!  After some shopping and getting the best cookies ever at the bakery, we went to lunch, then shopped more at Spice Village, then stopped for some chips and queso and margaritas before heading to the house.  Basically we ate and shopped a lot on Friday. :) 

We slept in on Saturday and just hung around and watched the first half of the Aggie game.  Then we decided to head to College Station for some coffee at Sweet Eugene's, pedicures, and lunch/dinner at Blue Baker.  After that, we came back to the house and played games and laughed a lot. :) 

I was so thankful for such a relaxing weekend away, but I sure did miss my people big time!! I had never been away from Rhett overnight, so that was hard.  I was so excited to get back on Sunday.  The best part of the weekend was when Reid wrote me this note on Sunday.

"I like my mommy at my house. Love Reid"

Georgia Kate and I continued the girl time today when we went to Dewberry Farm together!  Reid and I got to go together with his class a couple of weeks ago, so when we were asked to join some friends today, I decided to send Reid to school and take only Georgia.  It's always special to get a little one on one time with the kids and we had a great time!
