update on my babies

We had an appointment with Dr. Levin today!  I was so happy to go because it had been about 5 weeks since our last appointment.  I am a little over 13 weeks now and am relieved that we could hear the heartbeat and that it sounded great.  I actually couldn't really hear it, but she said everything sounded great, so that's what matters. :) We are just so thankful for him/her!

I also want to do a little update on our first baby!  Our sweet Reid is growing up right before our eyes.
Oh how we love him!

Just a few things about Reid at 19/20 months...
*I am starting to see some progress with his speech!  He's started answering with "yeah" and no a lot of the time.  He's saying "uh oh" and also attempting to name a few more things (zebra = daba, diaper = bipo, etc.) instead of only pointing and making noises.  These little milestones are a big deal to me!  He is also able to identify some letters and colors, which is exciting to see!
*I'm not sure how it took 20 months for this to happen, but he has discovered that he can climb out of the doggie door!  One day I couldn't find him and was starting to panic, when I realized he was just hanging out in the backyard!  Yikes!
*One of my favorite things about Reid right now is that he LOVES music, particularly my random/made up songs.  His favorites are "It's time to put the magazines away" and "The dirty ones stay in" (referring to the dishes in the dishwasher).  He will go dump out the magazine basket and then smile at me and start waving his arms back and forth.  That means he wants me to start singing!  He loves to help unload the dishes, but when I start loading the dirty ones he gets confused and wants to take them out too (hence the song).  Now he's figured out that the dirty ones stay in, but he always waves his arms back and forth as my cue to sing the song.  It's so cute!

I should have done a separate post about this a few days ago, but I didn't. :( My wonderful husband and Reid's wonderful daddy turned 30 on Saturday!  He didn't want to do anything special and just wanted a regular day at home, so that's what we did!  We are so thankful for him and everything he does for us!  Happy Birthday Chris!  We love you so much!  My mom and Chris share a birthday, so happy birthday to Mumsie too!  We celebrated together with family on Sunday, but I forgot to take pictures.

This was on Chris' birthday last year...maybe my favorite picture ever, so definitely worth posting again! :)

Big Brother!

We are SO happy to announce that a new little blessing is on the way!!!

This ultrasound was from 8.5 weeks.

Our baby is due on July 27th, but will probably be born a few days earlier by repeat c-section.
Reid and his little brother or sister will be 2 years and 2 months apart!!

He is thrilled as you can see...

We found out the Monday of Thanksgiving week and my first thought was, "How fun would it be to tell our families on Christmas?"  Well, as time went on, I realized what a horrible idea that was!  Chris and I kept this little secret to ourselves for 5 weeks!  Not easy.  Apparently I am a really good secret keeper, so if you ever need to share a secret, I'm your girl! :)  I had already made photo calendars for the grandparents for Christmas, so I decided to put a sticky note on the baby's due date that said "Surprise! Grandbaby #2 is due!"  I think everyone was truly surprised!  I got the best picture of my mom when she saw it!

I am just so, so, so thankful for this baby (just as I was with Reid) and do not take a single bit of this for granted.  I KNOW how blessed we are.  Every baby is such a miracle.

I have felt complete excitement and joy every since we found out.  I am very grateful for this feeling.  My pregnancy with Reid was such a mix of emotions...excitement, nervousness, guilt (This is strange, but I often felt very guilty and let it steal my joy.  I realize now how silly that was.), fear of the unknown, everything.  This time, I'm just happy.  Yes, I am a little nervous about balancing two, but people do it every day.  I know it will be very challenging, but I also think it's going to be so much fun!   I think I'm even more excited because I know how wonderful it is to have a baby and to be a mom.

The thing that keeps going through my mind every single day is how in the world is my BABY going to be a big brother??? I really can't get over it.  Didn't we JUST do all of this with Reid?
This picture gets me so excited.  Just like we did with Reid, we are going to wait until the birth to find out if we will have another baby boy or a baby girl!  I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS MOMENT!  It was something I will never, ever forget and just SO much fun for us!! I love to think about both possibilities!

We are over the moon! :)
