Celebrating Reid's 8th Birthday!

Reid came home from school on Wednesday (the day before his birthday) not feeling well.  He and Chris had plans to go to an Astros game with Grandma and Grandpa that evening as his birthday gift from them.  He really wanted to go, so I gave him some Motrin and sent them on their way.  Probably not my smartest parenting move, but at least he was able to enjoy the game.

He has been excited all year that his birthday was going to fall on the last day of school this year.  When you're 8, that's a big deal!  So when he woke up on his birthday with a 103 fever, he was devastated.  We tried to make the morning special with balloons and donuts (which he didn't feel well enough to eat).

His gift from us was a new bike.  He was excited about the bike, but just felt terrible.

I needed to take Georgia Kate to her school's end of year party at Glow Zone that morning, so Reid and Rhett stayed with Grandma for a couple of hours.  This is how the birthday boy spent his morning.

An afternoon trip to the pediatrician was next on the agenda.  Poor guy. :(

We cancelled his family birthday dinner that night and Chris brought him home some frozen yogurt for dinner instead.  Mumsie and Popsie also stopped by to give him his gifts.

After lots of rest and a dose of steriods, Reid woke up fever free and feeling SO much better the next day, which also happened to be party day!  He was excited to test out his new ride.

Unfortunately, Georgia Kate woke up with a fever, so she had to skip the festivities and stay in bed.  She ended up having Strep.

Mumsie and Popsie got Reid this shirt full of numbers for his birthday and it's right up his alley! :)

We haven't really ventured into the world of video games yet, but Reid experienced a video game truck at Graeme's Run in February and it's all he wanted to do for his birthday party.  The truck parked in front of the house and the boys played for two hours.  After that, we came into the garage for pizza and cake.  It was easy, fun, and most importantly, exactly what the birthday boy wanted!

Happy 8th birthday, Reid!!!

School's Out for the Summer!

The last few days of school are always such a whirlwind.  Add in the fact that all three kids got sick over consecutive days the last week of school and it made things a little crazier than normal.

Rhett and Perry had their little program the week before.  They are so cute!

Last day of school pic!  This was Rhett and Georgia Kate's official last day of school, but it ended up being Reid's last day of school too because he woke up sick the next morning (his last day of school and his birthday).

It's been so special having Rhett and Perry together in the Monkey class this year.

These two ladies are beyond precious.  We love Mrs. Melissa and Mrs. Frida!  Rhett's first year of preschool was so wonderful!

Georgia Kate brought donuts on her last day of school to celebrate her summer birthday.

The kindergarteners performed a few of their favorite songs from the year at the last school chapel and had a "bridging" ceremony.

Georgia and Aubrey are the only two from the class not returning to BCA for 1st grade, but I am so happy that they will both be at Wolman together!

So proud of our baby girl!  She's learned so much this year!

Our wonderful Mrs. Kneisly...
She is an amazing kindergarten teacher.

Reid had a Celebration of Learning in his classroom later that morning.
We are so proud of this boy!

Mrs. Gonzales was an awesome 1st grade teacher!

It was a great year in the 2's class, kindergarten, and 1st grade!  Bring on summer!

Reid is 8!

Our first baby is 8 years old!  Wow!

*When I look back at what I wrote about him on his last couple of birthdays, not much has changed!
He's competitive, responsible, focused, a leader, and crazy smart.

*He's also very intuitive.  He doesn't like when I'm upset.  Maybe that's just how boys are with their moms!

*He loves math, board games, sports/sports statistics, reading, and jokes.

*He takes his role as big brother pretty seriously when it comes to dishing out advice to his siblings.

*He loves to start his mornings by watching MLB highlights from the day before on my phone and enjoying a big glass of milk. :)

We are so thankful he's ours!

Spring Baseball Season

Reid had an awesome baseball season!  He was "drafted" by the Indians.  We didn't know a single person on the team, but we lucked out with amazing coaches.  Reid learned and improved SO much and really started to love baseball this season.

Our left handed batter

He started playing catcher mid-season and loves it!  He also played 3rd base and outfield some.

He made an awesome play at 3rd base one game and got the defensive game ball. :)

Reid's best buddy Case was on a different team this year.  I love this picture of Case batting and Reid catching in our game over the weekend.

Part of #12's fan club...
His siblings, aunt/uncles, and cousins also made several appearances! ;)

It was a FUN season!  They finished the season in 1st place.  Reid was very excited to get his trophy at the team pool party! :)

So proud of our boy and the Indians!

Spring Things

Spring has FLOWN by.  Here is some of what we've been up to!

Alli and I took the kids to the zoo one morning!  We wanted to get a zoo trip in before the hot weather keeps us away for a while.

Rhett and I joined Georgia Kate's class on a field trip to the Fort Bend Children's Discovery Center.

We've attended several birthday parties, but GK in particular has really made the party rounds this spring!  She loved Audrey's skating party and now wants a skating party of her own.

We also loved Penny's butterfly party at the Houston Museum of Natural Science!

Georgia Kate and three of her friends performed in the BCA talent show!  They danced to "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast and did such a fabulous job!  They worked so hard.

Evie, Chloe, Aubrey, and Georgia Kate
(changed into their spirit club outfits for the BCA cheer at the end)

We loved Spring Fest at our church!

We've tried to get to the park as much as possible before it gets too hot!

And we've loved seeing all of the adorable baby ducks this time of year!

I attended my first Mother's Day Tea with my baby Rhett.

These questionnaires are my favorite.  Perry calls me Auntie B! ;)

We went to Gonzales for a day and had a wonderful time!

Reid had field day and took it pretty seriously. ;)

Reid and his sweet friend Oscar

Our Spring Break was very low-key, but we kicked it off with treats from the ice cream truck that has been circling our neighborhood since January!

A few random pictures...

I'm going to miss these uniforms next year. :(

Reid and Case came out of the school doors with their books and read the whole walk home.

Had to capture her sweet freckles...

Can't believe it's almost summer!
