Weekend Fun

Alli and John started a fun tradition a couple of years ago of taking Reid (and now Georgia Kate) on a special outing as their birthday gift!  They took the kids together since Georgia's birthday is shortly after their baby will be here.  They painted ceramics and then went to get lunch and frozen yogurt.  The kids had the BEST time!! Alli and John are such an awesome aunt and uncle!  I can't wait to make memories with my niece or nephew!!

We spent Memorial Day over at Mumsie and Popsie's house and had
our first official swim of the summer!

Those curls...

It was Rhett's first time in the pool and let's just say he wasn't a fan.

End of School Year Fun

Well, Reid officially wrapped up a great year in the Butterfly Class!  This year was fun for him because  most of the kids were also in his class last year, so he was able to form some good school friendships.  We made the stressful, agonizing, kept me awake at night decision to "delay the start" of kindergarten (as the preschool director puts it) and have Reid do the 5 year old transition class at our preschool next year.  So much thought and prayer went into this decision, but ultimately, I feel like it's going to be what's best for him.  He's so excited about the Alligator Class next year and so am I!  That being said,  his preschool graduation was more of a preschool dress-rehearsal graduation. :)  I was not near as emotional as I would have been because I know we get to do it again next year!

The program was really sweet.  Reid made some progress since the Christmas program and faced forward and also managed to move his mouth during some of the songs. ;) Hand motions were not going to happen, but I can relate to the fact that he isn't a fan of performing.  I was really proud of him for getting up there and participating!

Mrs. Myers was a wonderful teacher!  She does such creative things with the kids and Reid was happy to go to school each day.

Reid and sweet Mrs. Riel

Proud Parents!

Yesterday was Splash Day!  I was happy to get to go and help.  Reid and his friends had a blast!

Reid's favorite school friend the last two years has been Ryan!  Such a sweet boy!

First day of the school year vs. the last…
He's grown so much!
We are looking forward to a great summer!

Celebrating Reid's 5th Birthday!

It's been a busy few days celebrating our FIVE year old!  This year, Reid really wanted a monster truck party.  Our kids had never been bowling, but we thought it seemed like the perfect party activity for him because he's so into games and scores! :)  He had a blast celebrating with some of his best buddies!

Chris took yesterday off for Reid's real birthday.  He woke up and was so excited to open his presents!

Chris made him a special breakfast of m&m waffles, eggs, and bacon!

Later that morning, we took the big kids to the movies to see Zootopia!  Reid had only been to the movies once and it was a couple of years ago and Georgia Kate had never been.  They did pretty well! We ended up leaving a little early, but they made it through most of the movie (probably thanks to the gigantic bucket of popcorn we got). :)

Last night, we went to dinner at Alicia's (Reid's choice) with family and then everyone came over to our house for cake and ice cream.  I am very thankful that there are so many people in our kids' lives that love them so much.

Rhett sat in a high chair for the first time at dinner!

I'd say it was a pretty good birthday for our big boy!

Reid is FIVE.

Reid Preston, our first baby, you are FIVE.  While it's breaking my heart a little bit to see how quickly you are growing up, I absolutely love seeing the person you are becoming.

During your 5th year, you became a big brother for the second time.  I can't think of anyone better for your little sister and little brother to look up to.  You are patient with Georgia Kate and so protective of her.  You love baby Rhett and are so happy when he looks at you, touches you, smiles, and laughs. :) You are Georgia Kate have become really close this year and I am excited to watch your relationship with Rhett continue to grow.

You give the best eskimo kisses.

You are TERRIFIED of bugs.

You have some pretty awesome dance moves.  You are not typically super silly (it's just not your personality), so I love watching you be silly and dance!

You love "fast cars" (sports cars) and are always looking out for them when we are driving.  I am a little sad that you aren't as fascinated with diggers, firetrucks, and trains as you used to be.

You love games of any kind - board games, card games, outside games, and sports.  I've decided that your love language is quality time, specifically quality time playing games.  Even more specifically quality time playing games really early in the morning. :) You are VERY competitive.  This trait has caught me by surprise because you have always been so laid back in most other ways.  You just wrapped up your first season of T-Ball and really seemed to enjoy it.  We think you are a natural! :)

You love numbers - scores, calendars, and birthdays.  It's amazing to me how your mind works with them.  You have all of your family members' and friends' birthdays memorized.  You love calculating how many days until whatever it is you are looking forward to.  You love keeping track of scores in sports and figuring out who is winning and by how many points.

Just in the last couple of months, you have started to seem so much more grown up to me.  You are becoming more responsible and doing things like putting your shoes in the basket and taking your dishes to the sink without being asked.  You can turn on your own show in the morning and pretty much get ready for school by yourself.  It's a bittersweet thing for a mommy!  I am thankful for the times like when you want to sleep in our bed when there is thunder, that remind me you are still little. :)
