Today was a pretty typical day! We had nothing on the calendar. Our regularly scheduled things each week are ibloom on Monday mornings at church, small group Tuesday evenings at our house, and Little Gym on Friday mornings (which Chris' parents have been taking Reid to the last few weeks). Lately, I am really appreciating the simplicity of life with young kids. It doesn't always FEEL simple, but it is and I love it. In a few short years our calendars will be much more full… school, extracurricular activities, homework, etc. I love that we can just spend so much time together at home and doing what we want.
Georgia Kate woke up for the day at 7:00. This is pretty normal, give or take about 30 minutes. It was another looooong night with our sweet girl. She woke up once an hour from 8:30 to midnight and then 3 more times from midnight to 7:00. It's normal for me to be up with her 3-4 times a night, but usually she will give us a good stretch from when she first goes to bed until about 11:30 or 12. Of course I'm tired, but waking up in the middle of the night is part of being a mommy. I'm more concerned that she isn't getting the rest she needs. Her tummy is having a hard time adjusting to solids and I think that's what was going on last night. Poor baby. It's so hard to know what to do. Anyway, didn't mean to go off on a rabbit trail! :)
I fed Georgia when she woke up, changed her diaper and then brought her down stairs to get in her swing for a few minutes. She still likes the swing, but I think it's going to have to be retired soon. She's getting too big for it! While she was in her swing, I turned on Good Morning America and had some cereal to wake myself up a little bit.
Reid woke up at 7:30. He has been waking up in the middle of the night too (mostly early morning when Chris is leaving for work... 5:30ish). We usually end up just letting him finish sleeping in our bed with me. Reid ate his breakfast (dry cereal and drinkable yogurt) while watching his Aggie Band DVD. :) He isn't really a breakfast person, which I kind of like, because I don't have to feel guilty about not making him a nice breakfast every day. He wouldn't touch it even if I did.
We spent the next hour playing in the living room and in the playroom. I usually leave Georgia Kate in her pajamas until after her first nap, but she had a blow out while we were playing so she got to put on her clothes early! :)
Georgia Kate went down for her nap at 8:40. I really try to let her get in a morning nap at home before we go anywhere. It doesn't always happen, but most days it does. While she napped, Reid and I played!
Georgia woke up from her nap at 9:15. It wasn't time for her to eat yet because it had only been 2 hours and 15 minutes since she last ate, but she wants to eat as soon as she wakes up, no matter what! I guess she's gotten used to the "eat, wake, sleep" cycle. I fed her and then got Reid and myself dressed. It took about 45 minutes to do all of that.
We left the house at 10:00 to go do a few errands. This is typically the time of day we leave to do things. We registered Reid for swim lessons (he's not starting until mid-April, but they were already filling up), went to Target, and picked up some lunch to go from the new Luby's! :)
We got home a little after 12:00. Georgia Kate fell asleep on the way home, which almost always happens, so I let her finish her little nap in the car. (Disclaimer: The car was turned off, the garage was closed, and the car door and house door were open so I could hear her.) :) While she was finishing her nap, I got Reid's lunch set up on the table. He ate about 2 bites. Grrr. I should probably just go on the two year old diet! I would sure lose a lot of weight that way! ;)
Georgia Kate woke up at about 12:20 so I brought her inside to feed her. After she ate, I let Reid entertain her while she was in the jumperoo. She seriously LOVES him. I did a few things around the house while they were playing! We played upstairs together for a little while and then it was nap time!
What usually happens is Georiga Kate starts getting tired, so then it becomes nap time for both kids! Reid is flexible in what time he goes down, so I let Georgia decide. :) Today they were both down for naps at about 1:45.
I assumed Georgia would only sleep for 30 minutes, so I didn't nap myself (even though I really wanted to because I was so tired from last night)! Well, she slept for an hour and a half! YAY!!! I didn't do anything productive with my time, but I did enjoy it! :) She woke up at 3:20 and I fed her and we cuddled before Reid woke up. Reid woke up and wanted to watch the Aggie Band on You Tube of course! :) Georgia Kate was quite impressed with her brother's drum major skills.
Lately we've been going on a walk after naps, but I couldn't decide if it was too cold today. We ended up going to the mall to walk instead! Chris met us for dinner at Alicia's at 5:45. Alicia's is the only place we really go when the kids are with us. Georgia Kate sat in the high chair for the first time! I didn't give her any purees tonight because I thought her tummy might need a break. I have no idea if that's the right thing to do or not. Sometimes I feel more clueless with the second child than I did with Reid!
We got home from dinner at 6:30 and went straight to the tub! We have a good system down. We bathe them together until GK gets fussy, then I get her dressed (because baby pajamas stress Chris out) while Chris finishes Reid's bath. Then Chris gives Georgia a bottle while I get Reid into his jammies.
I rocked Georgia Kate to sleep and put her in bed at 7:00. Bedtime for her varies from night to night. I prefer to keep her up until 7:30, but she was so tired. Chris and Reid watched Barney for a little while and I did some things around the house. They headed up to bed around 7:45! Chris lays with Reid until he falls asleep. This usually takes a while. They are still up there as I type this (at 8:30). I know Reid loves this time with his Daddy.
Well, that's life right now and we love it!
