The Zoo!

Chris had part of this week off, so we have taken advantage of the extra family time! On Wednesday morning he came with us to our last Kindermusik class. We love Kindermusik! Reid has really grown up since the first class 8 weeks ago. He was the youngest one in our class and the first few weeks he mostly watched. By our last class he was getting much more involved!

After Kindermusik we headed to the zoo! Reid slept on the way there and then we stopped for a quick lunch at Corner Bakery. We had a great time at the zoo! Reid was most fascinated by the elephants and giraffes! We were able to get really close to the elephants and watch them eat hay. Reid loved watching that. We also got to feed the giraffes some lettuce! That was so fun! I guess the reason he liked the elephants and giraffes the most is because they were so big and moving around a lot. A lot of the animals were sleeping so he didn't really understand what he was looking at.

We also went on a train ride! I remember loving this train as a little girl. I think Reid had fun too!

I am so thankful for wonderful days like these!

10 months!

Double Digits! Crazy! Reid is 10 months old and completely wonderful, if I do say so myself. :) I feel like he has changed a lot in the last couple of weeks. I've loved every stage so far, but things are really fun right now!

Some things about Reid at 10 months...

*Reid's eating and sleeping are pretty much the same as last month. He has turned into a great sleeper! He is still eating mostly baby food. We are working on finger foods, but it's been a slow transition so far.

*He LOVES water. He gets very serious when he's drinking from his cup and gulps down his water.

*He loves to watch me fill up my water bottle or his cup at the refrigerator. He smiles really big when he sees me walking over there and then laughs so hard!

*He has 8 teeth. I'm thinking he's starting to get some of his back teeth because he is always shoving his hands back there.

*He's turning into a little blondie! I'm sure this summer it will get even lighter from the sun. It's getting thicker and longer. I think it's so pretty. :) Love my little blue eyed, blonde baby boy!

*He has a silly face he likes to make and he knows it will make Mommy laugh! He sticks his bottom teeth out to make himself have an underbite. It's really cute!

*Overall, he is kind of a quiet, observer type. He usually only fusses when he's in a shopping cart or when he wants something that I've taken away. He is his most "talkative" when he is getting tired. He has started to scream for no reason and then laugh afterwards. I think he's just having fun discovering his voice. :)

*He thinks Chloie and Annabelle are hysterical. Everything they do is funny to him...eating, scratching, going through the doggie door. He is so curious about them and loves to watch what they are doing.

*His favorite place is still the park.

*He's getting much quicker at crawling and sometimes he will crawl on all fours instead of doing the army crawl.

*He is pulling up and walking along the couch. He is SO PROUD of this.

*He is starting to understand his toys more.

*He has starting biting us, which is very strange. He bites my shoulder when I'm holding him and bites my hands all the time. He also bites my arm when I'm changing his diaper. Hmmm... He also loves to grab my mouth and nose. It actually kind of hurts!

*He loves for me to pretend I'm biting his toes and fingers.

*We have a silly little "Stinky" song that he loves for me to sing when I'm changing his diaper. :)

*We do the same exact thing every morning. After I feed him we read Goodnight Moon, then I change his diaper, then we stop to touch the "It's a boy" sign on his door, then we stop to look in the bathroom mirror and wave, then we say good morning to the dogs. It's so funny how they develop their own little routines.

*Some of Reid's favorite toys are his drum, Scout the dog, his little egg shaker, his stacking bowls, and the mailbox on his house. We play "What's in Reid's mailbox?" several times a day. :)

One of his favorite things to do is break apart his letters that are linked together. He pulls really hard and then gets so excited when he separates them! He also loves everything with buttons...the remote, phone, calculator, etc.

*He is always (well, almost always) happy. I love how much joy he has and pray that he is always filled with such joy!

I meant to do a "Day in the Life" post at 9 months. I like being able to remember what life was like during different stages. This is what our typical schedule looks like...

• Reid usually wakes up anywhere between 7:30 and 8:30, we go through the little routine mentioned above, then he plays for a few minutes, has breakfast, and then plays some more. Breakfast is usually Yobaby yogurt.

• On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays we go to Baby Bootcamp from 9:30-10:30. He is really good while we are there. On Mondays I go to ibloom at church, so on those days, Grandpa comes over and plays with Reid in the morning. I am so thankful to get to go to ibloom and be around wonderful moms that I learn so much from! On Wednesdays we go to Kindermusik from 10:15-11:00. We always have fun at music class! So, our mornings are kind of full.

• Reid takes his morning nap from 11:00-12:00 (give or take a few minutes). After his nap he has lunch. Lunch is usually some sort of babyfood fruit/vegetable combo with a finger food afterwards.

• After lunch until about 3:30 we usually play, run errands, go to the park, etc.

• He eats before his afternoon nap and then sleeps from around 3:30-5:00.

• When he wakes up from his afternoon nap he usually has some cheerios while I start or finish up dinner (I try to start making dinner during his nap). We play and sometimes go on a walk until Chris gets home. He gets home around 6:00 or 6:30.

• Depending on when Chris gets home, we sometimes go on a family walk/run before eating dinner.

• We eat dinner around 6:30. Reid has some sort of babyfood meat/vegetable combo and a fruit/vegetable combo. He also usually tries a little bit of what we are eating.

• After dinner Reid and Chris play together until about 8:00 while I clean up dinner and do a few things around the house.

• We do Reid's bath around 8:00, bottle around 8:15, and bed around 8:30. :)

I am so thankful that I get to be Reid Preston Sciba's mommy! He is such a precious gift and I cherish every day (even the challenging ones)!

mommy moment

I had my first "I am going to give in right now so my baby will not make a scene in the store" moment today. I will admit that before I had a baby of my own, I was probably a little judgmental of some things I saw other moms doing. I've quickly realized how silly that was. Most moms are doing the best they can and what's best for one mom/child may be different than what's best for another mom/child. What was best for me/Reid today was giving in. :) Anyway, today Reid and I were at Hobby Lobby and he started fussing pretty much as soon as I put him in the cart. He's really doesn't like riding in the cart for some reason. I tried to distract him by showing him a little wind up chick in the Easter isle. Well, as soon as I took it to put back on the shelf he freaked out. I decided that in order to avoid a full blown meltdown I would just let him play with the chick while I was shopping and then go put it back before we left. Well, by the time I was finished shopping, the tag on Mr. Chick was ripped off and chewed up. Luckily the cashier wasn't totally grossed out when I handed her the slobbery remains to ring up. I don't want to make this a habit, but $3.99 saved me from being "that mom" in the Lob today.

spring weekend

We had a great weekend! Friday evening we had family night with precious friends from our small group. It's always so fun to have all of the kids together. I just love that we get to watch them grow up together.

We could also say "Texas A&M, Class of '33". There might be one little Red Raider in there! ;)

This is the newest member of our group, beautiful Lily Marie!

We spent a lot of time outside this weekend. The weather has been so nice! My aunt and uncle gave us their baby bike trailer to use! Mumsie and Popsie came over to play with Reid while Chris and I took our bikes in to get fixed up. I wasn't sure if Reid would like the bike ride, but I think he did! We also went on some walks, swung at the park, played in the front yard, and enjoyed a yummy dinner outside at El Jarito (our fave).

Reid also went to the nursery at church for the second time. He did great and was worn out!

Not sure what was going on with my hair here. :)

We met up with Grandma and Grandpa for a quick dinner on Sunday night.

The biggest event of the weekend is that Reid is officially pulling up and walking along furniture! He pulled up once in January and hadn't done it since then. Well, this weekend it is all he has wanted to do! He pulls up on the couch because he wants to get Chloie. He walks back and forth along the couch watching her. He loves her!

These pictures make me laugh. Annabelle loves to greet Reid when he wakes up! He sticks his hand out of the crib and she gives him kisses.

Reid has favorite pages in each of his favorite books. His favorite page in Brown Bear, Brown Bear is the goldfish page. He lights up when he sees it.

His favorite page in Snuggle Puppy is this one. He starts giggling when I "sing" it. :)

We've started reading Goodnight Moon right after he wakes up in the morning. We can't read before bed because he is too hungry and tired. Goodnight Moon is on his nightstand and he always reaches for it when we are rocking in his chair after he wakes up. Kind of a funny book to read in the morning! :) Anyway, his favorite page is "and a comb and a brush and a bowl full of mush". When we get to that page he turns around to look at me with a big smile on his face, every single time. It's so random and funny to me that he loves it so much! Nothing about the picture is exciting. There aren't characters or animals and it's not colorful. Sometimes I just wish I knew what he was thinking! (I have no idea why this is blue and underlined. I am so technologically challenged.)

This afternoon we went to the park to play with Reid's best friend Clara Beth. They were so cute together! They had fun swinging and playing on the blanket!

I love Spring!

Sometimes I can't think of a title...

We had a really busy week last week! We just had a lot of random things going on.

On Friday night we celebrated my baby brother's 22nd birthday. He wanted to go to Buffalo Wild Wings. :) I had never been there. Let's just say it's not the best place to bring a baby. It was SO loud and there were at least 30 gigantic TV's. He was completely overstimulated and it was kind of stressing me out. Once my dad found him a balloon to play with, he was a little happier. We love you Thomas! :)

Last week I decided to have a little photo shoot with Reid in the front yard. I was trying to be artsy, but was pretty unsuccessful! :) I am just not a photographer. I don't know how to edit pictures and all of that fun stuff. I did get one "artsy" picture though!

The rest of them were of him eating things...hehe!

We moved Reid to his big boy car seat on Saturday. Poor thing is just way too big for his infant car seat.

Last time riding in the infant car seat...

He loves his new big boy seat! I think he enjoys actually being able to see out the windows!
