Our Christmas celebrations started on the 23rd with a gathering at my Aunt Pam's house. We hadn't all gotten together for Christmas in years, so it was fun seeing my aunt and some cousins!
cousins Carynn, Jeni, and Melanie
Carynn made slime and reindeer food with the kids and they loved it!
Grandma and Grandpa decided to stop by that evening to give the kids their gifts a little early so that they wouldn't have to bring them to Gonzales on Christmas Day. I'm so glad I have this picture of Reid opening a gift because unfortunately he was brought down by what we think may have been some type of flu later that night.
Reid was throwing up all night, so we made the tough decision for him to stay home with Chris for most of the day on Christmas Eve while Georgia, Rhett, and I went to Mumsie and Popsie's house for our Christmas celebration.
We had lunch, decorated Christmas cookies...
and then went to church! This girl loves her cousins.
Reid still didn't feel well at all, but he hadn't thrown up all day, so he and Chris came over to Mumsie and Popsie's after church. We gave him some Motrin and he was able to decorate a gingerbread house (which he had been so excited about) and open some presents.
We loved being back at Mumsie and Popsie's house for Christmas Eve this year! After all of the presents had been opened (we were way too spoiled!), we came back home to get ready for Santa! We set out cookies and milk, put our reindeer food in the front yard, and got the kids set up in our room. It's tradition that they get to sleep in our room in their sleeping bags on Christmas Eve and this was Rhett's first year to get to participate! Reid fell asleep almost instantly because he felt so awful and Rhett surprisingly fell asleep pretty quickly too. Georgia was so excited that she couldn't stand it and ended up in our bed, which isn't that different from most nights with her. :)
Santa came!
Her facial expression doesn't show it, but this girl was sooo happy that Santa brought her a Wellie Wisher doll! :)
Santa knew that Rhett had been riding Reid's old big wheel that was literally falling apart. He was SO happy with this surprise and rode it around the house allllll day.
We were supposed to head to Gonzales later that morning with Grandma and Grandpa to see Sue, Christie, Seth, and baby Tucker, but we had to change the plan because Reid was still feeling miserable. Of course we missed seeing everyone, but it was also kind of nice to just be home. We rested, played lots of games, played with the kids' new toys, read books, and just hung out. I was so sad for Reid that he didn't feel well for Christmas, but it was still a special few days spent together!
