Reid is 2.5 today!

Oh this sweet boy.  He makes us laugh and wears us out all at the same time!  2.5 is such a fun age (except for when it's not). ;)  I like to document mostly the good things though, so here we go.  These are some things about Reid that make him Reid.

He will give us something without being asked (like our shoes or keys) and tell himself "Thank you!"

He has an obsession with water.  He loves to turn on the bathtub and sinks over and over and loves to fill up cups with water from the refrigerator.  It usually results in a big mess, but he has fun!

When something is hard for him to do he says, "So tricky for Reid!"

When he falls down, spills something, bumps his head, etc. he always says cheerfully, "It's okay!" Sometimes he says it more like a question, just to be sure he's okay. :)

He leaves off the "h" sound at the beginning of words and the "d" sound at the end of words. (house = owse, bed = be, band = ban)  I can tell that his brain often moves faster than his mouth because he has started to stutter sometimes.

He loves all things musical!  He LOVES the Aggie band and loves to march around the playroom with his drum singing the war hymn.  He knows all of the words to the war hymn and the Spirit of Aggieland.  I'm not joking.  He wants me to sing songs about everything.  "Sing about Mrs. Lisa.  Sing about the fence.  Sing about Mommy's big white car."

He's very aware of his surroundings!  He knows when we are near our neighborhood, the grocery store, Target, church, etc.  He always says, "almost to ___!" when we get closer.

He gets excited about the littlest things.  We had to use diaper rash cream on him for a few nights (he has hardly ever had to use it) and he was SO excited about his "new cream" every night! Ha!

He is doing great at ibloom (our Monday morning Bible study at church).  He talks through everything in the car on the way there.  "Reid no cry at ibloom.  Make Mrs. Lisa sad.  Reid be brave.  Mommy come back to get Reid."  Yes, he still refers to himself as Reid.  I kind of love it and will get around to correcting him at some point. ;)  He is also very concerned about the rules there.  "Reid share toys.  Hold hands with friends.  Be quiet at Bible time."

He loves to snuggle and LOVES to be tickled!!

He's starting to pretend more and it's fun to see his imagination!

Some of his favorites...
Books - Anything by Sandra Boynton (Wake Up Book, Pajama Time), Little Blue Truck
Songs - Aggie War Hymn, BINGO, Old McDonald
TV Show - Barney...We finally have a show he will watch.  I am SO happy about this.
Food - grapes, cheese sticks, macaroni, applesauce, goldfish, pretzels, sometimes ham...He's super picky right now.
Toys - trucks, cars, trains, animals, and anything that is his sister's...He's decided they are all his toys. :/

A few words that I would use to describe Reid at 2.5 are INDEPENDENT, observant, cautious, serious, but also a little bit silly, loving, and smart!  It's funny how these are probably the same words I would have used to describe him a year ago too!

Reid, we absolutely adore you and are so proud of the boy you are!

We had a little photo shoot today.  He was ready to cheer on our Aggies against LSU!

  3. No doubt it's a challenging age, but also sounds like such a fun age! Happy 2.5 years, Reid!
